Watching Washington

The ATDnet and the AAInet community teamed with the White House staff to digitally broadcast to the global Internet the historic signing of the Telecommunications Deregulation Bill from the Library of Congress, Thursday, February 8th, 1996. Mbone video and audio feeds were carried from the main reading room of the library's Jefferson Building over Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) circuits to the West Coast. At San Diego, they were fed into Internet and Iway routers for broadcast around the globe, giving everyone a window to view the proceedings from Washington in real time.

Below are several photographic snapshots of the activity, taken from the ATM Mbone feed.
